Sunday Hunting - Hillsdale County

Act 1, L.A. 1935

AN ACT to prevent hunting for game animals or game birds on Sunday, in the County of Hillsdale; to authorize the arrest of person or persons so offending and to prescribe the penalty therefore; and to provide a referendum thereon.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

Prohibiting hunting on Sunday in Hillsdale County.

Sec. 1.   This act shall be known as the act to prevent hunting, on Sunday, for game animals and game birds in the county of Hillsdale.

Definition.

Sec. 2   As used in this act, the following words and terms shall be construed to mean:

  1. Sunday shall be construed to mean the first day of the week.
  2. Game shall be construed to mean game animals and game birds as specified by statute.
  3. Game area shall be construed to mean any land, locality, and/or premises where game animals and/or game birds, are, may be found or may frequent.

Unlawful acts.

Sec. 3  It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, whether residents of this or any other state, to hunt for game, with firearms and/or dogs on Sunday in, and/or upon any game area or areas in the county of Hillsdale.

Penalty.

Sec. 4  Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeaner and on conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00, or by imprisionment in the county jail for not more than 90 days or by both such fine and imprisionment in the discretion of the court.
